About
Background
In 2022, I graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo (Cal Poly SLO) with a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and a minor in Dance. During my undergraduate career, I participated in research at Cal Poly SLO in ocean carbonate chemistry, where I was involved in all steps of creating and maintaining an oceanographic time series. In the summer of 2021, I participated in an NSF-funded Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program at the University of Rhode Island Graduate School of Oceanography. As a research intern, I created a reproducible workflow to post-calibrate continuous chlorophyll-a data collected from six seasonal transect cruises conducted off the coast of Rhode Island. My project was part of the Northeast U.S. Shelf Long-Term Ecological Research (NES-LTER) site and introduced me to the fascinating work of collaborating and synthesizing data to understand the environments around us. Read more about my project here! Overall, I’m interested in using data science to collaboratively characterize natural environments and understand the impacts of a changing climate.
Currently, I am working on my master’s capstone project to identify high priority survey sites in the Los Padres National Forest for the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden’s upcoming milkweed conservation field surveys.
